Not every product can go directly from production to store shelves. This applies, among others, to alcoholic beverages, which require an excise stamp before being introduced to the market. At SUUS, as part of our banding and co-packing services, we prepared 5.4 million cans for sale for Coca-Cola HBC Polska sp. z o.o. with an alcoholic beverage.

The process of banding excisable products may seem technically simple. It involves applying an excise stamp to the product. However, it involves the need to comply with various legal formalities, which we at SUUS handle on behalf of our clients.
What customs and tax services did we provide to Coca-Cola HBC Polska sp. z o.o. for this project?

  • Provision of space in a tax warehouse, located in our warehouse, where the banding process can take place.
  • Banding the products with the excise stamp.
  • Keeping records of the tax warehouse as required by law.
  • Attendance at customs and tax inspections.
  • Management and storage of excise stamps in accordance with legal requirements.

Banding is not the only aspect. The products arrived in shrink wrapped packaging. During the process of applying the excise stamp, the products were, of course, unwrapped. Therefore, we subsequently restored the packaging to its original state, just as the goods were delivered to us. We used a dedicated machine equipped with an automatic shrink tunnel. Naturally, the entire co-packing process took place within the tax warehouse.

After the packaging was restored, the products were removed from the tax warehouse (which involved the customer paying excise tax), and then stored in our warehouse before being transported to the stores.

The end result of the project? Banding with an excise stamp and co-packing up to 21,000 cans a day. The entire process took place at the SUUS warehouse in Sokołów, near Warsaw.
