Rohlig SUUS Logistics Enhances Business Development with ABS All Brake Systems Partnership Across Scandinavia, Germany, and Poland

Rohlig SUUS Logistics, a leading player in Polish logistics industry, has started cooperation with ABS, a prominent manufacturer of automotive parts. This partnership strengthens the logistics landscape by offering comprehensive services to empower ABS's expansion within the Nordic countries, Central and Eastern Europe markets. Rohlig SUUS Logistics provides an array of services, including road forwarding, last-mile distribution, customs handling, warehousing, order picking, and quality control. An instrumental component of this collaboration is the recent expansion of our branch in Szczecin, serving as a pivotal logistics hub for efficient product distribution.

A Seamless Supply Chain

The array of services SUUS delivers to ABS exemplifies a seamless and comprehensive supply chain solution tailored to the automotive industry. The logistics operator provides: customs handling at ports, warehousing, quality control, order picking and distribution to customers. Central to this process are advanced automated lift racks.

Łukasz Szymański, Branch Director in Szczecin at Rohlig SUUS Logistics, delves into the specifics “We streamline the customs clearance process for ABS products, arriving from Europe and Asia at the ports of Gdansk or Gdynia. Subsequently, these goods are transported to our Szczecin branch, where they are efficiently stored using modern lift racks, assembled into orders, and undergo rigorous quality checks. The next step entails distribution via groupage and full truckload road transport, spanning across Poland, Germany, and Scandinavia. This integrated approach adds substantial value for our customer by consolidating the supply chain under a single, expert logistics operator.”

The utilization of automated lift racks plays a pivotal role in optimizing storage and picking processes. Szymański elaborates, "Traditional racking systems require physical retrieval of products even when indicated by the WMS system. In contrast, with our automated lift racks, upon scanning an order, the necessary shelf automatically descends, simplifying the retrieval process. Over time, the system's algorithm learns product groupings that are frequently dispatched together and proactively optimizes shelf placements, further expediting operations."

The process is supported by the recently opened warehouse in the capital of the West Pomeranian region. Rohlig SUUS Logistics has been present there since 2009, but recognizing the potential of the Szczecin hub for Northern and Western Europe, it opened an additional location with a logistics warehouse, doubling its storage capabilities and operational capacity in the region.

A Synergy of Family-Owned Companies

ABS, a Dutch supplier of automotive spare parts specializing in brake parts, steering parts and wheel bearing kits, has selected Rohlig SUUS Logistics due to the all-encompassing services offered by the Polish logistics powerhouse. The strategic location of the Szczecin warehouse further enables efficient and effective product distribution to key markets.

Wouter Kothuis, Director Operations at ABS, emphasizes, “The growing ABS distribution network has a firm footprint in Europe and with a 45-year long presence in the market our products ensure the freedom of independent travel for millions of consumers worldwide. Collaborating with Rohlig SUUS Logistics, who bring a holistic approach to the entire supply chain, including customs services, road forwarding, and access to a state-of-the-art warehouse in Szczecin, reinforces our position in the crucial markets of Poland, Germany, and the Nordic countries. Shared values and a family-oriented approach to business make this partnership even more compelling for us, as both ABS and SUUS are family-owned enterprises, placing utmost importance on our people, employees, customers, and business partners."
