Rohlig SUUS Logistics acquires Joppa Logistics and sets its sights on further expansion

Rohlig SUUS Logistics has announced the acquisition of Joppa Logistics, a Czech company specializing in warehousing services and road groupage transport. With this acquisition, SUUS will almost double its market share in the Czech Republic and solidify its position in Central and Eastern Europe. This marks the company's first foreign acquisition and the second in just a few months, following the takeover of the Polish company Expert, which specializes in last-mile deliveries and value-added services. The contract was signed on the 6th June 2023, and the entire transaction is expected to be completed in the following weeks of this year.

Since 2018, Rohlig SUUS Logistics has been expanding its services in the Czech Republic, offering air, sea, and road freight forwarding. In the fall of 2022, the company opened its first warehouse in Brno. Joppa Logistics, on the other hand, is a private Czech company with branches in Prague, Brno, Zlín, Olomouc, and Ostrava. The merger with Joppa Logistics is in line with one of SUUS's strategic goals of strengthening its position in Central and Eastern Europe.

"Having in mind market turbulence and geopolitical situation the resilience of our customers supply chains is one of our top priorities" says Tadeusz Chmielewski, President of Rohlig SUUS Logistics. "We understand this perfectly and are able to provide diversified services and global coverage. Our goal for the coming years is to develop our foreign operations, also through acquisitions of small and medium companies wishing to join the global network. The Czech Republic is an especially important market for us and I am glad that our first international acquisition is taking place here. Our stronger presence in Czech Republic will offer an even wider range of services to Czech, Polish, and international companies, for whom the entire region is often considered as one business unit."

Jiri Chladek, Managing Director of Rohlig SUUS Logistics in the Czech Republic, says, “For years, we have specialized in freight forwarding services, 4PL, consulting and supply chain management. Joppa will allow us to increase the scale of operations and strengthen our position in the field of international groupage, contract logistics and domestic distribution in the Czech Republic. After the merger, we will focus on further development of this area - we plan to increase the warehouse space offered to our customers, develop sea and road groupage shipping thanks to cooperation with other SUUS branches in the region, our European transportation partners and the global network of our German partner, Röhlig."

Josef Drozdik, CEO of Joppa Logistics, adds, “By joining the international Rohlig SUUS Logistics family, we will gain new development opportunities, and our clients will have access to advanced technology, new logistics services and easier opportunities to operate globally and throughout the region. I believe that thanks to the Rohlig SUUS organizational culture focused on relationship and cooperation, this transaction will also bring many benefits to all our employees.”

Company plans to further develop its contract logistics, intermodal, rail, LCL, FCL, LTL and FTL services in other Central and Eastern European markets. Through systematic development, including acquisitions, the company aims to become the first-choice logistics operator in the region for companies looking for a partner on the local market and comprehensive solutions in the field of global supply chains.
