Rohlig Suus Logistics expands national distribution network and opens branch in Zielona Góra

The dynamic growth of the e-commerce sector in Poland is accelerating the development of warehouse logistics in smaller regions. Recognising the potential of the Lubuskie region, Rohlig Suus Logistics, one of the largest logistics operators in Central Europe, has opened a new warehouse in Zielona Góra at ul. Nowy Kisielin - Nowa 3. This investment is primarily aimed at increasing the operational capacity of the national distribution network.

The COVID-19 pandemic has dramatically changed the shopping habits of Poles. From one day to the next, we started buying most products online. According to forecasts carried out by PwC, in 2026 the gross value of the Polish e-commerce market will be at PLN 162 billion, representing an average annual growth of 12 per cent. The biggest increases in online sales are predicted in the grocery and health and beauty categories. The potential of the e-commerce sector is also recognised by the Polish logistics operator, Rohlig Suus Logistics, which is intensively developing the operational capabilities of the national distribution network by opening further branches in promising locations. One of these is the Lubuskie Voivodeship, where, between 2001 and 2019, the value of GDP growth per inhabitant averaged 3-4 per cent per annum, placing the region in the second best group of EU regions. The province's development is also facilitated by its proximity to the country's western border, the interest of foreign investors and an extensive economic zone.

According to the 'E-commerce in Poland' report, as many as 77 per cent of internet users made a purchase at least once in 2021, an increase of 4 p.p. compared to 2020. Rohlig Suus Logistics is also seeing more interest in online shopping, for example in the area of 'home deliveries' we grew by 16 per cent year-on-year. Such dynamic growth in e-commerce in recent years has meant that, in order to meet market demand and current customer requirements, we are densifying our distribution network by opening more terminals. We believe that the explosive growth of e-commerce in Poland obliges logistics operators to be more close to the final customer, says Adam Galek, member of the management board of Rohlig Suus Logistics. The new branch in Zielona Góra will not only improve the services we provide, but will also allow us to handle orders even more cost-effectively. This investment is an important element for us in the implementation of our contract logistics development strategy and allows us to be more close to our customers' businesses, he adds.

The new facility of the Polish logistics operator, Rohlig Suus Logistics, is an A-class warehouse of nearly 3,000 sq m, located in an economic zone of more than 160 ha in Nowy Kisielin in Zielona Góra. The new transshipment terminal aims to increase the operational capacity of the company's national distribution network.

We have long noted the logistical demands of the region, which we have so far met using a partner. Having our own branch increases our operational capacity fivefold and is an important element in the company's growth strategy in the region. In the first instance, we will focus on handling local business and domestic general cargo, says Katarzyna Rusin, director of the Poznań branch at Rohlig Suus Logistics.

Zielona Góra is an important city for national and international logistics, not least because of its excellent connections to the European motorway system (roads A2, A18). Two corridors of the Trans-European Transport Network - TEN-T - run through the area: Baltic-Adriatic and North Sea-Baltic.

Zielona Góra is undoubtedly a city with great potential in a favourable geographical location. Excellent connectivity and proximity to major transshipment hubs make the new branch an important part of the company's organic growth, adds Adam Galek, member of the management board of Rohlig Suus Logistics.

The warehouse in Zielona Góra is another investment by the company as part of its strategy to be as close as possible to customers' businesses. The Polish logistics operator recently opened a branch in Plzeň in the Czech Republic. Rohlig Suus Logistics currently has 31 branches.
